The best way to enjoy Durga Puja in Kolkata is to immerse yourself in the spirit of carnival cheer that takes over the city. You will find the streets filled with crowds, meandering their way through the lanes and bylanes, visiting aristocratic homes or the &lsquobondei bari&rsquo to the traditional &lsquobaroari&rsquo or neighbourhood celebrations. Many prefer to go on a walking tour at night when the illuminations transform the city into a fantasy land. This is also the time when everyone is eager to meet family and friends over meals, and eating out is a major part of the celebration.

JW Marriott Kolkata has not only come up with an elaborate buffet spread for the Durga Puja revellers for lunch and dinner but also has a special midnight buffet for those who might be looking for a bite in the wee hours. Between October 15 and 19, &nbspJW Kitchen, the all-day dining restaurant at JW Marriott Kolkata, will serve a lunch and dinner menu, which will primarily consist of popular Bengali dishes.

Whet your appetite with some traditional savoury items such as &lsquoEchorer Chop&rsquo, &lsquoMochar Chop&rsquo, &lsquoPiyaj Posto Bora&rsquo, &lsquoGondhoraj Fish Tikka&rsquo, &lsquoChanar Chop&rsquo, &lsquoKasundi Fish Fry&rsquo and &lsquoNarkol Posto Bora&rsquo.

Then delve into the mains, starting with &lsquoGhee Bhaat&rsquo and &lsquoGondhoraj Masur Dal&rsquo. Unlike popular belief, Bengali cuisine has a wide range of vegetarian dishes. So try the &lsquoAloo Chechki&rsquo, &lsquoEchorer Dalna&rsquo, &lsquoAam Kasundi Paneer&rsquo, 'Koraishuti dhokar dalna', and &lsquoPaach Misali Tarkari&rsquo. For non-vegetarians, the menu includes &lsquoKachalonka Murgi&rsquo, &lsquoMutton Dakbanglow&rsquo, &lsquoPosto Murgi&rsquo, &lsquoMutton Roganjosh&rsquo and &lsquoDhonepata Chicken&rsquo.

If you are fond of biryani, options include &lsquoHilsa Biryani&rsquo and &lsquoKolkata Chicken Biryani&rsquo. Round up your meal on a sweet note. Take your pick from &lsquoRasgulla&rsquo, &lsquoGulab Jamun&rsquo and other special sweet creations by the chefs.

As the city stays wide awake to the merriment of Durga Puja, a specially curated midnight menu will be available to appease the night-time cravings of pandal hoppers. A peek into the midnight buffet spread revealed dishes such as &lsquoVeg Biryani&rsquo, &lsquoAam Dal&rsquo, &lsquoBhaja Moong Dal&rsquo, &lsquoMochar Ghonto&rsquo, &lsquoPaneer Kaliya&rsquo, &nbspetc. among the vegetarian spread and &lsquoMurgh Tariwala&rsquo, &lsquoBhetkir Jhol&rsquo, &lsquoRohu Kaliya&rsquo, &lsquoSorshe Maachh&rsquo and much more under the non-vegetarian spread.
