In a dilemma of how to take your relatives for a vacation or where to throw a party for your friends, this is it. Hire the toy train, go past breathtaking sights as you celebrate away from the madding crowd and make memories of a lifetime.
The train can accommodate 100 passengers and will leave from Matheran in the morning, completing the journey in the evening at the same spot. The amount only covers the ticket fare and does not include any other service. It takes around 3 hours for the train to reach Neral from Matheran and the speed is limited to 12km/hr, this means the passengers will get ample amount of time to explore the valley. Interested parties have started to make inquires but the first deal is yet to go through.
The plan was put forward in order to promote hill rail tourism in Maharashtra. Starting its service back in 1907, the railway also has some historic significance. The Matheran Railway has been nominated for the UNESCO World Heritage site but the approval from the international body is still pending.
