As the title suggests this books takes you on ten walks around the old city of Jaipur, and in the same step introduces you to the arts, festivals and plain tales of the city. The labrynthine galis of the city yield antique shops, meenakari workmen, and the occasional oddity like the errant dhaba. Each walk is accompanied by maps, photographs and a brief history of the monuments, which give you a feel of the different chowkries or blocks into which the city was divided (the palace complex occupied only 2 blocks). Some of the monuments in the city like the Jantar Mantar though deserve slightly more information and distances, approximate duration of the walks need to be mentioned. An excellent book about the best way to explore a city.
