The Pakistani cricketer recalls his rejuvenating stay in New Delhi

Kavita Devgan

OT Favourite hotel in the world
Wasim Akram I would have to say The Oberoi, New Delhi (from Rs 19,500 oberoihotels.com).

OT Last visited
Wasim Akram My last visit was in February 2009, just for a week.

OT The experience
Wasim Akram It was definitely a different experience it harnesses the beauty of the past and yet seems to cradle contemporary luxury. My stay was very rejuvenating. I had a week and the hotel made sure I got the best of everything during my holiday. My suite offered every conceivable luxury. But the best part was the spectacular view of the Delhi Golf Club and of Humayun&rsquos Tomb. I was thankful for the constant internet access&nbspand the round-the-clock business centre &mdash they allowed me to keep up with my work, which never stops, even when I&rsquom on vacation.

OT What was the food like
Wasim Akram The food was superb. I was very surprised to see that the hotel presented such a variety of cuisines. I especially liked the European and Oriental menus.

OT The &lsquoUSP&rsquo
Wasim Akram The thing that struck me the most about the hotel is how it is opulent without being over the top. It&rsquos the perfect blend of traditional and contemporary. Also, it&rsquos got one of the best locations &mdash considering that it&rsquos in the heart of the city, it offers some of the greenest views around.

OT Do you intend to visit again, and when
Wasim Akram I would really like to visit again. A two-week trip with my kids is in the pipeline, perhaps this summer.
