A Hawaiian Challenge Too Good to Resist

OT Staff

Taking the &lsquonew normal&rsquo concept of working from home a step further, a Hawaii based initiative has decided to use this now popular practice &lsquoto recruit and nurture talented professionals to help build a resilient economy&rsquo in this pandemic situation. Conceived by Movers & Shakas, the programme was launched in December 2020, and is open to US domestic workers.

According to Movers & Shakas, 50 out-of-state newcomers will get free air passage to the island state as well as discounted accommodation facilities and memberships to co-working spaces among other things. The selected participants will continue to work remotely from Hawaii but in return for the facilities, will have to help in community building activities, such as work alongside local education non-profits.

Those willing to join the programme have to participate in a selection process, with the finalists likely to be called for a video interview. According to the Movers & Shakas website, &lsquothe ideal candidate for M&ampS is a fully-employed individual with the flexibility to work anywhere, lives the &ldquoAloha Spirit,&rdquo and is looking to invest themselves into the community they choose to call home&rsquo. Look up the website (https://www.moversandshakas.org/) for other terms and conditions.

While the lucky few earn their tickets to Hawaii, others are wondering if more such beautiful locations are willing to chalk out similar programmes.
