Here's one more incentive for foreign tourists to visit 'God's Own Country'. The state government just announced that PCR and RT tests are free of cost for travellers from different countries.

Upon arrival at the airport, an individual can leave the premises after submitting the samples and the tests will reach their mobile phones within 6-8 hours.

As per safety protocols, they will need to quarantine themselves for 7 days and not use public transportation to reach their destinations.

They are to remain in isolation for the said number of days unless there is an emergency, following which another test will be done. If the results are positive, they shall go into institutional quarantine.

The second wave of COVID19 has found its way into 16 states and airport authorities have been told to strengthen security since the case graphs have increased tenfolds.

Mobile RT-PCR Tests are being launched latest by March 15. The district administration has a choice of mobile labs for the collection of swab samples. If the labs fail to deliver the results within 24 hours, their license will be terminated.

The first lab will be set up in Thiruvanthapuram and trial labs will be set up in Kollam, Kottayam, Kozhikode, Thrissur, Kasaragod and Palakkad.
