France will shortly enforce a 10-day quarantine for travellers from India to prevent the spread of an Indian variant of COVID-19.

The announcement was made a few days after Paris passed a decree to ban on all flights from Brazil to stave off the P1 coronavirus variant, and needed to quarantine passengers on flights from Argentina, South Africa, Chile.

Government spokesman Gabriel Attal on Wednesday stated that for certain countries where the health situation is very serious and worrisome, France will tighten the screws and impose travel restrictions.

He said that India will be added to this list, and details of the travel restrictions will be unveiled in the coming days.

India has been experiencing a second wave with double and triple mutation variant of the virus spreading in cities.
