Enjoy Food & Culture From the North East At This 5-Day Festival In Delhi

From R&B music performances to an exhibition on the literature of the North East--take a mini vacation to the seven sisters in the capital itself

Feeling a pull of nostalgia for the seven sisters Don&rsquot worry&mdashthe North East is closer home that you think. October 27 onwards, the India International Centre in New Delhi is hosting a festival dedicated to the region for five straight days. Called the Festival of the Arts, this is a cultural event that will showcase the best of cuisine, culture, film, arts from the North East.

Step inside the world of each of the seven states&mdashAssam, Manipur, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Tripura, Sikkim and Nagaland&mdashwhich will each exhibit something unique to visitors at the festival. For the musically inclined, for instance, there will be many performances from leading and up-and-coming artists, such as an R&ampB and Blues performance by Ronnie and the Band&nbspfrom Nagaland, and a performance by the Laihui Ensemble of Manipur.

There would also be a gallery of photographs based on the Monpa tribe of Arunachal Pradesh, an exhibition on the archeological and craft history of Tripua as well as an interesting exhibit on the history of literature published in the North East.

In addition, there will be life-sized bamboo houses, gateways and structures to make you truly believe that you have arrived home, at least for a little while.
