Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat, an initiative by the Ministry of Tourism,  aimed at promoting greater mutual understanding amongst diverse cultures within India, is conducting a quiz competition from January 1, 2020 to June 3, 2020.

Every year, each state/UT will be paired with another state/UT for reciprocal interaction between people. Participants from each region will be quizzed on the paired state/UT and winners will be taken on a tour of the respective paired state/UT. It is expected that the knowledge of the language, culture, customs and traditions of different states all over the country will lead to a better understanding and thereby strengthen the unity and integrity of the nation. 

Through the Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat programme, the different states and union territories strive to boost their cultural, academic, and economic ties by participating in mutual engagements and covering domains of music, drama, cuisine, language, history, tourism, and other forms of interactions between people. 

The objectives of the programme include 

• Promotion of the spirit of national integration
• Showcasing the rich culture and heritage of the country
• Establishing long-term engagements between states
• Creating an environment that is conducive to learning and understanding
• Inducing a sense of responsibility through cross-cultural interactions
