With Unlock 1 finally here after months of quarantine, many religious places around the country have slowly begun to open up. Yes one would think that people would rather avoid such (potentially) crowded places. However, it looks like religious places will see no dearth of devotees if the first day of re-opening is anything to go by.
Some state authorities have decided to hold back on re-opening religious spots, but many others gave it the green signal provided certain measures were in place.
Who Has Opened Up
Places like Delhi, UP, Kerala and Gujarat have decided to re-open religious places but even then, authorities must implement certain strict protocols for social distancing.
What Are The Protocols
People will be allowed inside only in batches after they sanitise their hands and, in some cases, go through a temperature check. Wearing a mask has been deemed as important and barriers have been installed in multiple places so that devotees don&rsquot get too close or crowd near the priest. Apart from this, idols are also being sanitised and there is regular spraying of disinfectants on all surfaces.
One may think that all these restrictions would make people rethink going to religious places, but that has not been the case. Devotees have waited patiently and lined up for their turn. While no case of blatant disobedience of rules have been reported as of now, it remains to be seen how long India can keep up with these regulations of social distancing.
