In an attempt to effectively manage waste in Delhi, the Delhi Cabinet has approved a decision to set up an e-waste eco park in the city, where e-waste will be dismantled, segregated and recycled.

According to reports and information from the Delhi government, the park is also most likely to have a refurbishing market, which will sell electronic goods like laptops, chargers and batteries amidst other things. Collection centres across 12 zones will be set up to channelise the e-waste. Not only that, the park will also train people along with providing them the necessary tools to position them as formal recyclers. Additionally, reusable plastic and metals such as copper and aluminium will also be extracted from the waste and will be transferred to a production line. The facility will be an integrated one with various fronts &mdash such as dismantlers, plastic waste processors etc. According to reports, there will complete end to end processing of the e-waste and zero landfill will be ensured.

This park to be built on 20 acres of land to take care Delhi&rsquos annual e-waste production of 2 tonnes, will be India&rsquos first e-waste eco park where e-waste will be recycled and re-manufactured in an environmentally safe and scientific manner. The appointment of a consultant to set up the eco park will happen soon and the government aims to bring the project to life in early 2024.
