City Walk Festival Organised In Madhya Pradesh To Boost Tourism

Set in the heartland of the Indian subcontinent, Madhya Pradesh is home to architectural grandiose and boasts of a regal ambience. Its medieval structures, rich wildlife and historic forts and temples attract hordes of tourists every year. There is no doubt that tourism is one of the major contributors to the revenue of the state. Be it cultural, wildlife or heritage tourism, Madhya Pradesh never fails to fascinate those who come to explore it. In order to further boost tourism in the state, the state tourism board is organising a &lsquoCity Walk Festival&rsquo in 11 major cities in October and November.

A joint collaboration with India City Walks, the second edition of the &lsquoCity Walk Festival&rsquo aims to celebrate the rich heritage of the state and will cover subjects like art, culture, history, food, textile and spiritualism. These walks will be organised in the cities of Bhopal, Indore, Ujjain, Gwalior, Panna, Vidisha, Khajuraho, Chanderi, Jabalpur and Orrcha to name a few. More than 100 walks are expected to be conducted across these cities for both domestic and foreign tourists. The walks kick started on October 12 and will take place every weekend at different destinations till November 10 for 2000 participants. Each walk will be led by a local walk leader selected by India City Walks. The tourism board has also invited volunteers to take initiative in creating awareness about the legacy of the state. 

As per reports, the managing director of the tourism board stated that the idea is to familiarise the tourists with the rich heritage, natural beauty, glorious history and traditions of Madhya Pradesh.
