A new bullet train has been introduced in China, easing winter travel for passengers. The CR400AF-G train is a high speed bullet train that travel at a speed of 350 kilometres per hour and can withstand harsh winter conditions i.e. temperatures as low as -40 degree Celsius.

This new train is owned by the China State Railway Group and will run on a new high-speed line. This train will operate between Beijing and other locations like Harbin and Shenyang. Currently it is not fully functional for transportation.

Since Harbin is one of the coldest cities in northernmost Heilongjiang, when trains stop or halt at Harbin, their brakes freeze, owing to the temperature drop.

The new speed train has been so designed that it will consume less energy and be equipped with brakes that will keep moving from time to time even if the train stops or halts, preventing the system from freezing.

Some more features that will equip this new train to withstand the cold winter days are silicone sealing strips (to prevent ice from getting into the train body), temperature-resistant breaks, stainless steel piping (with heating devices attached) and chromium-molybdenum alloy bolts. This high speed train is a part of the Fuxing series of high speed electric multiple-unit trains.
