Boating operations to Papikondalu in Andhra Pradesh are set to resume with enhanced precautionary measures. Getting there via ferry rides across the Godavari River is half the fun. A boat journey through the wide river from Rajahmundry or Bhadrachalam takes around eight hours.

Papikondalu, in the West Godavari district, is known for its mountain ranges and scenic views. The hills run along the Godavari River.

Boating at all points in the state had been stopped following an accident in 2019 in the East Godavari district.

According to media reports, prior to relaunching the boating services, the government has set up several control rooms across the state to ensure the safety of passengers and that ferry operators follow all the precautionary norms.

On July 1, the state&rsquos tourism minister, Muttamsetti Srinivasa Rao, relaunched the ferry service from Poshamma Gandi ferry point in Devipatnam.

According to local media, the boat cruise to Papikondalu by the tourism department is expected to resume from July 4.

The staff and the passengers on board will be required to wear life jackets. Travellers are hopeful that adequate COVID-19 regulations will be followed, especially regarding the cleanliness of the life jackets.

Meanwhile, the tourism minister has also announced that all tourist locations in the state are being opened up with all COVID-19 regulations in place.
