OT Staff

For any of you traveling from Mumbai and Bangalore, this might not be good news. The Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport was slated to undergo renovation between February 7 and March 30. The ever busy hub will remain closed on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays from 11 AM to 5 PM though, it will be fully operational on Holi (March 21). Massive disruptions are expected with nearly 240 flights cancelled everyday. Flight fares will put a heavy strain on your wallets with prices expected to rise by nearly 70-80%. The airport administration has requested&nbspairlines to use wide body planes which can carry 300 passengers rather than the usual narrow body planes (156 passengers).

On the other hand, the Kempegowda Airport in Bengaluru is poised to host the Aero Show 2019 which has been scheduled for between February 14 and 24. The airport thus is scheduled to remain non-operational for a few hours daily to accommodate the practice sessions for the upcoming event. The airport administration and flight authorities are prepared to offer due compensations  for any flight cancellations and delays.

Here are the timings and the date on which the airport will be closed

  • Feb 14 to 17 1.30 PM &ndash 4.30 PM
  • Feb 18 and 19 10 AM to 12 PM and 2 PM to 5 PM
