In the pandemic situation, museums worldwide have been taking their exhibits online, often for free. However, Rijksmuseum has decided to go one step ahead and put a part of their digitised collection in the public domain, which can be downloaded and customised with the museum&rsquos free resources.
A must stop on every traveller&rsquos itinerary to Amsterdam (The Netherlands), Rijksmuseum is known for its art collections which includes old Dutch Masters to later artists such as Van Gogh, Rembrandt and many others.
The museum, which has been digitising its collection for quite some time now, has decided to take its invaluable collection online and offer it for free.
Over 709,000 digitised artworks have been made available on Rijks Studio searchable by artist, object, period, etc.
Each display is accompanied by a detailed description. Not only paintings but also decorative artefacts, jewellery, costumes, accessories, furniture, etc. can also be seen.
