It doesn&rsquot come as a surprise that over 3,000 people were clamouring to get their hands on the personal belongings of celebrity chef, Anthony Bourdain. The late chef&rsquos belongings were up for grabs in an auction from October 9 to 30. The Bourdain memorabilia consisted of many of his prized possessions ranging from artwork and kitchenware to clothing and albums.

Items from the auction were sold for an estimated amount of $1.8 million. The highest selling article in the auction was the Kramer knife that was dearest to the chef. The knife surpassed all expectations and sold for $231,250, the initial predicted sale price of the knife was between $4,000 and $6,000. Bourdain&rsquos U.S. Navy jacket was the second highest selling article at $171,150. The jacket was given to Bourdain to commemorate the evacuation of the crew of his show, No Reservations, when the war broke out in Lebanon in 2006. Some of the other articles included a signed script from The Simpsons cast from when Bourdain appeared in an episode in 2011 which went for $18,750, a silver Michelin Man sculpture which was sold for $61,250, artwork from Ralph Steadman which was sold for $52,500 and a duck press which went for $35,000.

The auction consisted of items which held immense significance in Bourdain&rsquos life. Many were evidence to the milestones he had achieved. Part of the proceeds from the auction, which was presented by Lark Mason Associates, will be going to his daughter and 40% of the proceeds will go to Bourdain&rsquos alma mater Culinary Institute of America (CIA) for their annual scholarship. The scholarship is for students who wish to study abroad and learn about international cuisines.
