Bengaluru residents can finally skip the wait and confusion of connecting airports, as American Airlines will soon launch a direct route between Kempegowda International Airport (BLR) and Seattle Tacoma Airport. This is also the first non-stop flight that connects Bengaluru to the United States of America.
Scheduled to begin operations in October 2020, a 285-seater Boeing 787-9 aircraft has been employed for the same. The route is an attempt to fulfill the many corporate visits from Bengaluru to Seattle and neighbouring cities in the USA.
The MD And CEO of Bangalore International Airport Hari Marar has said, "The American Airlines flight between Bengaluru and Seattle will help further establish BLR Airport as the Gateway to a New India&rdquo.
Recently, Kempegowda International Airport has also launched links to Amsterdam and Addis Ababa, and will soon connect the city to Tokyo and Munich as well. With these moves, one can access 28 international destinations from the airport.
In addition to this, the airlines is set to disclose its code share arrangement with Alaska Airlines based in Seattle. According to the release, the latter is also preparing to join the Oneworld Alliance, a group of world-class airlines that aim to provide the highest level of service to frequent international travellers.
