We know what you&rsquore thinking. In 2020, that&rsquos an ominous location marker. But given the rising cure rate of COVID-19 with plasma treatments and global efforts, one could return to this beautiful country by the end of the year. The radical building maven that is China hasn&rsquot stopped anyway&mdashjust take a look at the slick new Wuxi Show Theatre. Inspired by China&rsquos largest bamboo forest, its steel columns and canopy of latticed louvres surround a core of 2,000 seats. Visitors will be able to watch Belgian director Franco Dragone&rsquos show, The House of Dancing Water, here all year. Since the theatre is being developed as a shimmering centrepiece for Wuxi&mdashit&rsquos part of a larger cultural development&mdashyou&rsquore also likely to get easy access to nearby Lake Tai. The freshwater reservoir has islands with revered Daoist and Buddhist sites, calming walking trails and a 115-metre-high ferris wheel. Stroll by the Show Theatre at night, and watch it awaken in golden light.
