JW Marriott Chandigarh Is An Oasis Of Timeless Luxury And The Real Taste Of Punjab

JW Marriott Chandigarh has got luxury, culture and comfort all figured out

Precious Kamei

Years ago, new to north India, all I knew about Chandigarh was the fact that the city was a capital shared by two states and that it was well-planned. My knowledge on the city was limited and it stayed that way for many years. Before my recent visit to the city, Chandigarh was always a transit point for me, on way to Amritsar or Shimla. This time I took out time to visit the city and came to few conclusions first, scout your neighbours first for you may find hidden gems, and second, any place is quieter than Delhi.

What my experiences from years of travelling taught me was that if you want to know a destination, you always go pro. With that in mind, I picked&nbspJW Marriott Chandigarh. And why not, when its design has been inspired by Swiss French architect Le Corbusier, the mastermind behind the beautiful city of Chandigarh.

To be quite honest, JW Marriott Chandigarh had me at "Hello". My grin stretched from ear to ear when, all of a sudden, I found myself walking, nay, sashaying down the aisle under a lovely dupatta held up high by some of the most enthusiastic greeters I've ever met...wait, am I in some wedding Honestly, for a second, that thought did cross my mind. Always a sucker for a grand entrance and all things dramatic, I did enjoy that two minutes of fancy. And speaking of fancy, JW Marriott Chandigarh certainly didn't hold anything back, as far as contemporary design and luxury is concerned. Chandigarh is all about master planning and design and that's exactly what the hotel portrayed. What else can one say about the travertine stone and sycamore wood, of which the Romans built their grand temples, being used generously in the hotel's design. The word 'timeless' fits perfectly. Also one will find extensive use of semi precious stones like green onyx and honey onyx. It's safe to say that JW Marriott Chandigarh is a happy union of sense of space, luxury and a touch of the incredible India.

The centrally located hotel is a mere half an hour away from Chandigarh International Airport, Mohali. The property has 164 well-appointed rooms that also include four suites, one presidential suite, an award winning spa, and four dining spaces that believes in keeping things authentic and true to the local culture&mdashSaffron, The Café @JW, Chandigarh Baking Co and 35 BREWHOUSE, a microbrewery with delicious best from its Food Truck and Lounge (the first in a Chandigarh in a luxury property).

A luxury destination in itself, JW Marriott Chandigarh morphs effortlessly from being a centre for relaxation to meetings and events, whichever is the need of the hour. Apart from the well-appointed rooms, the hotel has 30,000 sq ft space for indoor and outdoor meetings, a business centre, executive lounge and a state-of-the-art spa.

If food is as important to you as it is for me, you will like what the hotel has in store for you. From the craft beer of 35 BREWHOUSE to Saffron's authentic taste of Punjab to The Cafe@JW's fine selection of Asian fares, JW Marriott Chandigarh has your taste buds covered. One advice always keep some space in your belly for their kadhai jhinga, raan-e-Sikandari and tari wala desi kukkad (a personal favourite).  While you are busy exploring the region one dish at a time, it's important to keep in mind that the property also offers a tour of the local attractions. From sightseeing to shopping to even special ones like a typical Punjabi farm experience.
