The rolling Sahyadris come alive and shine in the brightest green. While Mumbai rains are romantic, there are many spots surrounding the city that put up breathtaking vistas, making you feel one with nature. Moreover, a lot of them are just a few hours' drive away and can make for a relaxing weekend getaway when you want to take a break from city life. If you are searching for a special monsoon getaway without going too far, here are some picturesque locales you must definitely check out 

Karnala

Approximately a two-hour drive away, the hill fort of Karnala takes on a vibrant character during the monsoon. On your brief getaway here, explore the Karnala Bird Sanctuary and Karnala Fort, and breathe in the expansive green scenery.

Igatpuri

In just three hours from Mumbai, escape to the luscious scapes of Igatpuri, where you can regale in the enchanting history nestled in Tringalwadi Fort and enjoy the lively Vihigaon Waterfall. 

Kalsubai Peak

After a four-hour-long breathtaking drive from Mumbai, you can bask in Kalsubai Peak's mesmerising views. Known as the highest peak in Maharashtra, the trek to the peak is an adventurer's dream.
