The name &ldquoChikmagalur&rdquo translates to &ldquoLand of Younger Daughter,&rdquo and this destination boasts stunning mountainous regions, rugged terrains, and expansive lowlands. Adventure enthusiasts will find plenty of opportunities for exhilarating hiking trips and thrilling activities to get their adrenaline pumping. Another notable attraction in Chikmagalur is its association with the &ldquoPlanters&rsquo Life&rdquo, and the Bababudan Giri ranges.

Gokarna
Gokarna is the ideal choice for those yearning for a laid-back beach destination reminiscent of Goa but with a more affordable and less commercial vibe. Located just a few hours away from Bengaluru, this hidden gem features pristine beaches free from litter and tranquil waters, providing the perfect backdrop for a romantic getaway. Stroll along the seashore, basking in the refreshing sea breeze, and enjoy a few chilled beers with your loved one. For a more secluded experience, venture to the nearby Halfmoon and Paradise beaches, which offer respite from popular spots like Kudle and Om Beach. Gokarna is approximately 9 hours away from Bengaluru.

Coorg
Nestled about 250 km from Bengaluru, Coorg, the coffee country, offers a serene escape from urban life. With its thick forests, sprawling coffee estates, and aromatic spice plantations, this hill country is a haven for nature enthusiasts. While you can choose to stay in resorts tucked away amidst the hills and plantations, don&rsquot miss the chance to visit Madikeri town and sample the delectable Coorgi (Kodava) cuisine.

Mangalore
Travelling to and from Mangalore in a Vistadome railway coach is an experience, but keep in mind that it will take a significant part of the day, so plan accordingly. Alternatively, you can air travel via the city&rsquos international airport. As the headquarters of Dakshina Kannada and one of the state&rsquos key commercial centres, Mangalore boasts old temples, magnificent churches, pristine beaches, and a vibrant culinary scene.

Savandurga
For those who prefer a shorter excursion or a day trip, Savandurga is an excellent option. You can embark on a trek along the monolithic granite hill or try your hand at rock climbing. However, it&rsquos important to note that only the Biligudda (White Hill) trail is open to visitors. Avoid staying on the hills after dark, as encounters with wild animals are possible. You&rsquoll find two ancient temples at the base of the hill&mdashthe Savandi Veerabhadraswamy temple and the Sree Lakshmi Narasimhaswamy temple. From the hill&rsquos summit, you can enjoy a panoramic view of the surroundings, including reservoirs and rivers.

Save this destination for a long weekend getaway. Although it may be a bit tiring to drive straight to Jog Falls from Bengaluru (approximately 8.5 hours), consider stopping at Shivamogga town, which is a little over 6 hours away from Bengaluru, and visit the famous waterfalls the next day, as they are about 2.5 hours away. Alternatively, you can fly into Mangalore airport and continue the journey by road, which takes a little over four hours. After the monsoon season, the four cascades&mdashRaja, Rani, Rocket, and Roarer&mdashcreate a mesmerizing spectacle as they cascade down the verdant hillside, making the journey worth the effort.

Responsible Travel During Monsoon
When planning your travel during the monsoon season, staying informed about the weather conditions and any relevant warnings is crucial. Check weather forecasts and local advisories before embarking on your journey. Be prepared for possible disruptions and travel delays due to heavy rainfall. Additionally, ensure that you respect the natural surroundings and adhere to any safety guidelines provided by local authorities. Remember to avoid any activities or areas that pose a risk during the monsoon season. By practising responsible travel, you can enjoy your trip while minimizing any negative impact on the environment and local communities.
