Here's a list of pet-friendly hotels, resorts, and homestays where your furballs can have a great holiday too

Only pet lovers know how disheartening it is not to be allowed to take your furry friends along with you on a vacation. But thankfully, the mind-set is changing and lodges and vacation homes are being pet-friendly these days. On International Dog Day (August 26), we bring you a list of pet friendly places to stay.

However, even though the places are pet-friendly, they have set house rules for their furry guests. It is better to inform them in advance that you will be accompanied by your pet. Check for charges applicable, facilities, and also about emergency help available.

Meena Bagh Ratnari

Located in the middle of a lush apple orchard and a permaculture farm, near Shimla, it is a place with endless mountain views. This four-bedroom stay will be a pleasant escape for your dog, away from the urban quarters. And if both of you are looking for company, the farmstay has its own animals, including dogs, cats, chickens and ducks. Meena Bagh Ratnari is about 17km from Narkanda and 85km from Shimla.

Jumbo Farms

You have to inform the hotel three days ahead of your arrival about the pet&rsquos details. The hotel provides basic necessities including a bed, food bowl and food, for the pet, during the stay period.

The Den Corbett

This luxury resort and spa in Ramnagar near the Corbett National Park is surrounded by a thick Sal forest. It is spread across 13 acres of reserve forest land and looks upon the Kosi River as a neighbour. But what is more heartening is they are not merely pet-friendly but believe the pets are family too. So they leave no stones unturned to make both the pet and you comfortable and enjoy the outdoors.

The Hideaway

Located near Hosur (40km by road from Bengaluru), this eco-friendly resort is located in the middle of landscaped gardens and surrounded by wooded areas. Apart from doggy meals and doggy treats, there is also a pool for furry friends.

Dune Eco Village and Spa

Located off the East Coast Road, this 35-acre property is about 14 km from Puducherry town. This beachfront property has some amazing views. And they are pet-friendly too. However, the restaurants and the swimming pools are out of bounds for pets and guests have to keep their pets leashed while in public areas.

Emerald Trail Resorts

Enjoy an eco-friendly holiday amidst the greenery at this four-acre estate in Bhimtal. The residential units are separated by sprawling lawns, virtually giving you a sense of privacy without making you feel lonely. And if you are looking for a pet-friendly place to spend the weekend, you may head to this simple but well-appointed homestay. The place is known for its sumptuous meals, with many of the ingredients sourced from their own gardens or the village. You may also visit the famous terracotta temples of Sribati or the wooden toy makers&rsquo village called Natungram from here.
