Weekend heritage walks in Mumbai

On Saturday, January 3, at 11.30 am, there&rsquos the &lsquoTamil Town&rsquo walk. Step into Matunga and spend a couple of hours eating, drinking and experiencing the cultural delights of this Tamil-dominated part of Mumbai, also called &lsquoLittle Madras&rsquo. Filter coffee, different kinds of idlis and dosas, colourful temple architecture and insights into the local community will make you see Matunga through new eyes. Fee Rs 1,650 per person. Duration 2 hours. Meeting point Café Mysore (Shop No. 1461-C, Durlabh Niwas, Bhandaji Road, Matunga East).

On Sunday, January 4, at 10.30 am, join the &lsquoThe Pious & The Thieves&rsquo walk. This one takes you through the legends and myths of Chor Bazaar and its adjacent areas. The tour includes visits inside Mumbai&rsquos oldest Jain Temple and the oldest Bene-Israeli synagogue as well as a peek into Raudat Tahera and Minara Masjid.
Fee Rs 1,650 per person. Duration 2.5 hours. Meeting point Café Almas, Byculla, near JJ Hospital.
