The name of India's newest airline, brought together by the Tata Sons Limited and Singapore Airlines &mdash or Tata SIA Airlines Limited (TSAL) &mdash was made public recently. Derived from the Sanskrit word 'vistaar', generally meaning expansion, the Vistar airlines is due to start operations from October.
The Delhi-based Vistara is scheduled to get its first Airbus A320-200 in September and has plans to increase its fleet to 20 aircrafts gradually.
While the routes are yet to be announced, Vistara is likely to connect Delhi with Mumbai, Goa, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Srinagar, Patna and Chandigarh in its first year of operation.
