Son-et-lumiere at Ross Island

The history of this once happening island retold through a light and sound show

OurTeam

Ross Island, located about 2 km from Port Blair, was once the administrative headquarters of the Andaman & Nicobar Islands. But an earthquake in 1941 left the island devastated, and until recently, all you could see were the ruins of its former opulence. A new light was shed (literally) on the island when, on December 7, a sound-and-light show was inaugurated. The show will initially be in Hindi and last 45mins. Boats ferrying visitors to the show will set sail from Aberdeen Jetty, Port Blair at 4pm and the show will start at 5.30pm or as soon as the sun sets. Tickets (adults Rs 250, children Rs 150) will be available at the reception counter of the Directorate of Tourism from 8.30am to 3pm on the same day. Contact 03192-232694/244091 closed on Wednesdays.
