Nepal Looking for the Snow Leopard

Trek through the rugged mountains of western Nepal in search of the --ghost--

OurTeam

Explore one of the lesser known terrains of Nepal Himalaya in search of the rare snow leopard with Prabin Shrestha, who will be conducting research on the local snow leopard population by setting up camera traps in the Shey Phoksundo National Park. Organised by Legends of the Wild (legendsofthewild.com), you will be hiking for 10 days through the Upper Dolpo region and observe Shrestha at work. The Dolpo valley is also known for its scenic and cultural attractions, including the Phoksundo lake and many high passes, fortified villages and Buddhist and Bon monasteries. Apart from snow leopards, the area is also home to the Himalayan bharal or blue sheep and wolves. May/June is the best time to trek in this region, once the passes are free of snow and you&rsquore blessed with clear skies and long days.
