OurTeam

The National Rail Museum (NRM) in Delhi, which ranks among the world&rsquos leading railway museums, now has many interesting attractions, following its renovation. One of the new attractions is the model of a miniature train showing old and new townships, with various modes of transport &ndash road, rail, metro train and even air. Visitors will even find a cricket match in progress in Wankhede Stadium. Visitors can take home a copy of NRM Times showing them in the news. The Rail Garden&mdashagain a scaled model layout&mdashdepicts trains running across different terrains, passing through various historic stations, such as Delhi Junction, Guna, Charbagh, CSTM and  Madras Central. Ropeways, funicular and mountain trains are other added attractions. At the new restaurant, with a replica of the central dome of Mumbai&rsquos Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus, a &lsquofood train&rsquo will cater to diners.
NRM, which first opened in February 1977 as the Rail Transport Museum, has an extensive collection of rail exhibits&mdashmore than 90 vintage steam, diesel and electric locomotives, royal saloons, and cranes and wagons. World&rsquos oldest working steam locomotive, the Fairy Queen&mdashwhich features in Guinness Book of World Records, the 111-year old and world&rsquos first steam monorail that belonged to the Maharaja of Patiala, and the fully roadworthy 102-year old unique Morris fire engine that used to serve the Nizam of Hyderabad. The museum is open from 10am-5pm (entry closes at 4.30pm). Closed on Mondays and select holidays.
