Getting back Delhi's native trees

OurTeam

On August 15, 2015, supported by Delhi Tourism, Delhi, I Love You and CEC - Delhi will plant 1000 native trees from 22 native species of the Delhi Seed Bank Drive. Unlike exotic trees, indigenous trees do not need extra water or nutrients and therefore do not drain a city's resources. Besides birds and other local fauna too prefer these indigenous trees. Delhi has been overtaken by exotic trees like Vilayati Kikar while the city's native trees are disappearing rapidly. This special tree plantation drive, to be held from 8am to 12pm at Delhi&rsquos Asola Bhatti Wildlife Sanctuary, aims to protect and promote the cultivation of indigenous species and address the gap in people's awareness. There will be live music and refreshments for the participants. Prior registration required.
