&lsquoAanayottu&rsquo means feeding the elephants. Monsoon is the time for rejuvenation in Kerala. People indulge in rejuvenation therapies. Elephants are an integral part of Kerala&rsquos temple rituals. Hence the pachyderms are also offered medicated food on a select day. At the Njangattiri Bhagavathi Temple in Pattambi town (a little over 100km from Coimbatore in neighbouring Tamil Nadu), the festival will be held on July 17, 2015. On this day, huge amounts of medicated food are prepared right at the temple. The temple priests are the first to offer the food to the elephants followed by the devotees.
