The Indian tech hub of Bengaluru becomes the first city in the country to have wi-fi at a railway station. The Indian Railways pilot project to provide high-speed Internet connectivity to passengers starts with Bangalore City railway station, as per a release from the Press Information Bureau. The service is powered by &lsquoRailWire&rsquo, the retail broadband distribution model of RailTel Corporation of India, a public sector undertaking of the Ministry of Railways. RailTel has the task of providing wi-fi facility at A1 and A category stations around the country.

At Bangalore City railway station, wi-fi will be available to passengers free of charge for the first 30 minutes. After 30 minutes, the user needs to purchase scratch cards from the Wi-Fi Help Desk.
