Chikmagalur can be reached via international airports in Bengaluru or Mangaluru. It is approximately 150 kilometres from Mangalore and 280 kilometres from Bangalore. If travelling by train, Chikkamagaluru is connected through the Kadur junction on the Bangalore to Shivamogga route, about 40 kilometres away. There are also train options from Mangalore. Opting for a car is the most convenient way to reach Chikmagalur, and the state-run bus transportation services offer good connectivity from major towns in Karnataka. Once in Chikmagalur, having a car or taxi is advisable, especially for exploring the hills and waterfalls.
