Punjabis are known to take their food as seriously as a pro athlete does their daily practice. If there's any place on earth where you can ask for an extra helping of anything without inviting snarky stares or eye-rolls, then it is only and only in Amritsar. So before you pack anything for your trip to this golden city, gearing up with a big appetite for these delicious foods is a must.

Amritsari Kulchas

There's no better way to get started on this hearty foodie journey than to enjoy the classic Amritsari Kulchas. The dish is synonymous with the city, and it is almost criminal to leave without ever trying them. Even though it is tough to find an underwhelming creation across the many joints that populate the city, the locals swear by legendary establishments like Kesar Da Dhaba and Brothers Dhaba. The perfectly rolled and stuffed kulchas are most commonly served with spice chhole (chickpea curry).

Plus, the generous dollop of malaai on top makes this tall drink an unmissable indulgence.
