Earthy colour tone, touches of greenery and quirky d&eacutecor meet the eye as you enter this newest pub in Kolkata. Operating in Mumbai and Pune since 2014, the popular brew pub, Effingut, has anchored itself on Park Street, a thoroughfare lined with vintage and modern bars and restaurants.

This 350-seater brewpub, spread across an area of almost 7500 sq. ft., is so far the brand&rsquos largest outpost. It is divided into multiple sections, from the casually sprawling main area to private dining areas to alfresco seating. Although interior designer Minnie Bhatt has given the Kolkata address its own distinguishable vibes, you cannot miss the beer direction marker, the art installation with head gear, the quintessential &lsquoBobby&rsquo (the mini bike seen in the eponymous movie which became a symbol of youth and romance as Autocar India described it), and the Effingut mascot, Borrel, which are the hallmarks of the brand seen at their other addresses too.

While you may have to wait for a while for their craft beers &ndash until they receive their brewery license &ndash there is nothing to stop you from enjoying their signature cocktails and food. &ldquoWhile we&rsquore opening with the full arsenal of signature cocktails, food and weekly events, our craft beers are what we are known for and we hope to receive our brewery license soon,&rdquo said Manu Gulati, founder and owner, Effingut.

The bar not only sports state of the art equipment but also offers signature cocktails unique to the Kolkata outlet with ingredients such as house-made green tea kombucha, liquid smoke, oak chips, lapsang souchong tea, sous vide coffee and orange blossom water. Their house special &lsquoBath with a Stranger&rsquo combines the botanicals of gin with green tea kombucha along with slightly sweet and refreshing notes of local apple and lychee. Others include vodka based &lsquoCafé Brulee&rsquo, the artisanal &lsquoEffingut Gin and Tonic&rsquo, whisky-based &lsquoCorpse Reviver Number 2&rsquo, etc.

The food menu is an eclectic mix of Pan Asian, Indian and Continental cuisines. Highlights include Maharashtrian Thecha Chicken, Bacon Swirls, Burmese Khow Suey, Pork Ribs, Red Eye Prawns, Mac N Cheese Bunny Chow, Grilled Bhetki with Caramel Mash and Fennel & Orange Salad, etc. There are also Kolkata favourites such as Kosha Mangsho, Bhetki Paturi, etc. There are also biryani, Indian breads, and pizza. For dessert, you may order the Sizzling Brownie with Ice Cream flamb&eacuteed at your table.

The brew pub also hosts weekly events, including pub quizzes, live bands, DJ nights, etc. At the moment, DJ Markuz, whose repertoire includes an eclectic mix of retro, house, RnB and Trap, is in charge of the console.

Information Effingut is located at Level 7 of Magma House, 24 Park Street, Kolkata tel 7620038888. Currently operating as per government mandated timings, it is open between Tuesday and Sunday, from noon to 10 pm.
