Rejoice In The Jalore Festival In Rajasthan

Jalore, Rajasthan is set to host its annual festival from February 15 to 17, and you are in for a treat. There will be plenty to indulge in including flavourful food and exciting experiences. The three-day spectacle will be the perfect amalgamation of Rajasthani culture, tradition, and history.

Feel The Rhythm

Rajasthani folk music has been enchanting generations of enthusiasts. At the festival you will come across the resounding melody of the sarangi (a string instrument), and folk songs. Carrying a very old legacy, traditional Rajasthani folk dances will also be performed.

 Be A Good Sport

The festival offers participation in sports and cultural competitions. It&rsquos a bag full of nostalgia when you get on the maidan (open ground) to try your luck in kabaddi (defence and raid), kho-kho (catch and tag), and santolia (seven tiles). All of these are open to both men and women, except volleyball, which is only for the men. Fill out the forms and hurry for the auditions.

Creative Fancy

Don&rsquot get disheartened if sports are not your forte. There are various other competitions like singing, dancing, drawing, fancy dress, etc., for all age groups ranging from junior (seven to14 years) to senior (14 years old and above). And also, for those of you more artistically inclined towards body art, there is a mehendi-making challenge, you can participate in.

While enjoying the festival will be your main motive, do go around the city, especially to sample the food. From spicy dosas to fiery kachoris, Jalore has a range of cuisines for you. Don&rsquot miss Gupta Sweets, the most famous sweet shop in Jalore. Here you will find an astounding number of traditional Indian desserts, and the best one of the lot is the ghee halwa.&nbspTake a sightseeing tour of Jalore, especially the Jalore Fort. It offers impressive views. Additionally, the Topekhana is also a striking piece of architecture.

By railway Jalore railway station is on the North Western Railway route. The total number of trains passing through Jalore station is around 20.
