Macao Cinematheque Passion

A new art house and film archive will promote Macao's film culture

OurTeam
Macao, across the Pearl River Delta from Hong Kong, is known for its heritage and mixed cultural identity. Enhancing the cultural-scape of this very tourist-friendly region is the Cinematheque Passion, an art house and film archive, housed at Travessa da Paixo No. 13.
Located adjacent to Macaos world heritage listed icon Ruins of St. Pauls, the Cinematheque Passion, will not only throw light on Macaos film industry but also bring world cinema to the region.
Managed by the Cultural Affairs Bureau, Cinematheque Passion is a three-storey multi-functional building, whose regular attractions include film screenings, local video storage, as well as access to film journals and book reading services. The ticket office, screening room and control room are located on the ground floor of the Cinematheque. Local film material and videos, periodicals and magazines are available in the film information room on the first floor.
As an interactive and exchange platform for audience and filmmakers, the Cinematheque aims to promote film culture and Macao films both at home and abroad. Local residents as well as tourists can visit Cinematheque to enjoy high-quality films from different parts of the world. Every month, the Cinematheque will hold different thematic film festivals or programmes, such as the Director-in-Focus programme. Also every month, two to three films from around the world will be premiered in Macao. In addition, starting from April, two weekends per month, two local short or feature films will be screened under the programme Discover Macao Local Indies Revisited". The ticket office is open from Tuesday to Sunday, from 10am to 11.30pm. Check for discounts on tickets for members, students and senior citizens on the Cinematheque's Facebook page. The film information room is open from 10am to 8pm.
