JLF 2023 Things To Know Before You Go

The greatest literary show on earth is set to begin on 19th January, featuring some of the biggest names in literature

The Jaipur Literature Festival is set to commence on 19th January and run until 23rd January. The festival is ready with a spectacular lineup of the who&rsquos who from the world of literature, music, and the arts. 

The Lit Glitterati

Among the speakers and panellists, Geetanjali Shree, winner of last year&rsquos International Booker Prize for her novel Tomb of Sand, Booker winner Bernardine Evaristo, Shobha De, Shashi Tharoor, Aanchal Malhotra, Sudha Murty, filmmaker Onir, and Nobel laureate Abdulrazak Gurnah, are among many other stellar names. 

Musical Magical

A number of musical and cultural performances will also be spaced out over the five days of the festival. Musical guests like Lifafa, and Panagea will be performing. Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia will also be present on one of the panels moderated by Sanjoy K Roy, one of the core founders of the festival. The musical lineup has some prominent names and is something to look forward to. 

Pakshee&nbspThe Indie fusion band will perform on 19th January from 730 pm onwards.

Lifafa&nbspThe much-loved indie artist Lifafa will perform on 19th January from 845 pm onwards.

Peter Cat Recording Co&nbspThe band will perform on 20th January from 845 pm onwards.

Kabir Cafe&nbspThat original band that puts the couplets of Kabir into music, Kabir Cafe, will be performing on 21st January from 845 pm onwards.

In light of Geetanjali Shree becoming the first writer of the Hindi language to bag the International Booker Prize, the Jaipur Literature Festival this year will have a special focus on Indian languages. Multiple panels will showcase the fascinating diversity of languages and feature sessions on 21 Indian & 14 International languages. Daisy Rockwell, who translated Geetanjali Shree&rsquos award-winning Ret Samadhi- Tomb of Sand to English, is set to be honoured by the 7th Vani Foundation Distinguished Translator Award for the year 2023.
