Come January, bibliophiles and some of the best of literary minds from around the world will head to Kozhikode in Kerala for the sixth edition of the Kerala Literature Festival (KLF 2023). The four-day event (from January 12 to January 15, 2023) will be held along shores of the Arabian Sea.
Originally scheduled for January 2022, it was postponed to January 2023 due to the pandemic.
One of Asia&rsquos largest literature festivals, KLF will host Nobel laureates, Booker Prize-winning writers, historians, journalists, film and theatre personalities, performers and artists. Around 400 speakers from 12 countries are expected to attend the event to be held in six venues spread across Kozhikode beach.
The final list of speakers includes Booker prize winners Shehan Karunatilaka, Arundhati Roy, and Geetanjali Shree, Noble laureates Ada Yonath and Abhijit Banerjee, Wendy Doniger, Jeffrey Archer, Francesc Miralles, Shobhaa De, Tushar Gandhi, MT Vasudevan Nair, M. Mukundan, K.R. Meera, T. Padmanabhan, Jerry Pinto, Shashi Tharoor, Aanchal Malhotra, Benyamin and Sudha Murthy, Yoko Ogawa, Kamal Haasan, K. Satchidanandan, P. Sainath, Sagarika Ghose, Barkha Dutt, Ramachandra Guha, William Darymple, Yuval Noah Harari and Manu S. Pillai.
The festival presents an array of the best artists, actors, celebrities, writers, thinkers, and activists closer to people by engaging in meaningful discussions. The programme will include several fireside chats, author meet-ups, discussions music shows (Carnatic concerts to Progressive Rock bands), dance performances (Kathakali to flamenco), puppet shows and plays.
KLF is supported by the government of Kerala and is organised by the DC Kizhakemuri Foundation. The Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will inaugurate the four-day festival on January 12, 2023.
