Alwar Festival The Shilp Gram Crafts Village Show In Rajasthan

Take a mid-month break, and head to the vibrant annual handicraft festival in Alwar city

The three-day annual Alwar festival, from February 13 to 15, is an occasion to have endless fun as you soak up the region's culture and the state of Rajasthan. There will be many opportunities to experience folk music, dances, handicrafts, and events such as elephant polo and fancy dress and sketching competitions for children. There will be flower shows and a display of other local traditions.  

Handmade Heritage

The festival will take place in Shilp Gram, a crafts village. It is a massive showcase of handmade items, as the festival's focus is to promote manual handicraft-making skills, to augment the locals' income. The Alwar Collector and the Chairman of the Festival Committee organise the festival.

Around The City

After the festival, you can explore the rest of Alwar and the regions around it. You can take a tour of the Sariska National Park and Tiger Reserve, which is spread over 800 square kilometres it is home to numerous animals apart from tigers, such as rhesus macaque, sambhar, chital, and wild boar. The avian fauna includes sand grouse, harbour quails, crested serpent eagles, etc. Drop into beautiful Bhangarh Fort, located 50 kilometres from the Sariska and considered haunted.

How to get there  

By air Alwar is 163 kilometres from the New Delhi airport.  

By railway The Shatabdi Express, and Superfast Express, between New Delhi and Ajmer, pass through Alwar railway station. Also, there is the Intercity Express, connecting New Delhi's Sarai Rohilla, Alwar and Jaipur, and the Mandore Express, which connects New Delhi, Sarai Rohilla, Alwar, and Jodhpur.

By road Alwar is well-connected to the rest of the state, New Delhi, and beyond by state transport and private buses.
