Night markets have played a significant role in Asian culture, and the rest of the world is swiftly catching on to their popularity. These markets function differently&ndashsome are open all year round, others on weekends, and a few during certain seasons only. However, they all share the same trait of flourishing as soon as the sun sets. If you want to have various experiences while travelling across the world, we have compiled a list of five of the top night markets around the world.

Luang Prabang Night Market, Laos

Most night markets in Asia are pretty chaotic and noisy. But surprisingly, that's not the case with this Laos night market. Of course, visitors can expect a lot from this evening gathering, which is even regarded as one of the best venues in Laos to find unique products at discounted prices. As you explore the Luang Prabang Night Market, you will see around 300 artisans who sell paintings, teas, fabrics, and other handcrafted goods. While food is available on-site, you can try meals in the adjoining alley between the Mekong River and Sisavangvong Road.

Barranco Night Market, Peru

The colourful areas of Lima are home to several small night markets, from the bohemian Barranco to the beachfront Miraflores. About a dozen handicraft merchants assemble around Barranco's main square to attract the attention of late-night party-goers returning from the nearby music venues, pubs, and clubs. It's a terrific spot to get authentic Peruvian handicrafts like alpaca scarves and seed jewellery.

Suzuki Night Market, Australia

This outdoor market at Queen Victoria Market place takes place every Wednesday from November to February and features designers, artists, and food sellers celebrating Melbourne's cultural diversity. There is a tonne of options for foodies, including meals from Vietnamese, Spanish, Dutch, Ethiopian, and Indian cuisines. In addition, it offers delicious Victoria wines, fantastic handcrafted aprons, and a succulent Australian BBQ.

Ratchada Night Bazaar, Thailand

Every Saturday night, thousands of tourists and local Thai people visit Ratchada Night Bazaar to browse racks of used handbags, jeans, auto accessories, and furniture. The market initially served as a meeting place for those looking to purchase and sell antique scooters and car components. It has since grown to feature a variety of vintage clothing and automobiles. Besides being a great area to get deals, it also provides a window into the vibrant Thai culture.

Yamashiro Farmers' Market, United States
