The Maze Collective, Delhi

Run by two artist-photographers, Ashish Sahoo and Zahra Yazdani, Maze collective studio is an artist-run studio space dedicated to the analogue and alternative processes of photography.  Located in Chhatarpur, Delhi, they conduct workshops, and mentor projects, and also offer one-month residency programs where the practitioners can go through enough experiments to master the techniques. 

Art Ichol, Madhya Pradesh

Located between the temples of Khajuraho and the natural environs of Bandhavgarh, Art Ichol, founded by Ambica Beri, offers resident artists, crafts enthusiasts, writers and photographers, a chance at holistic collaboration. Ichol is a small village in Madhya Pradesh, situated next to Maihar, an ancient temple town, which is also worth exploring since it is home to a Shaktipeeth - the Sharda Devi temple. It was here that Ustad Allauddin Khan as a court musician established the Maihar Gharana. The Ichol Art Centre boasts of a sculptor park at Amariya, the writer&rsquos retreat, you can set yourself on a hammock that overlooks River Tamas and let your musings flow free.

HH Art Spaces, Goa

In October 2014, Romain Loustau, Madhavi Gore and Nikhil Chopra started HH Art Spaces as a platform in Goa and offered a space that curated residencies and workshops with a focus on the live art scene prevalent in South Asia. Today, this space works nomadically, via commissioned projects, institutional grants and partnerships, hoping to archive the influence of live artworks. They allow resident participants to collaborate, or work independently, on projects that hold meaning to them. Artists are invited for a month-long residency at the end of which there is an OPEN studio to showcase work developed during the residency. 

Karma Yatri Travel and Art, Himachal Pradesh and Leh

In an endeavour to explore the relationship between travel, living, culture, community, art and expression, KYTA invites experimental artists, scientists, technologists and researchers from various disciplines and nationalities every year for a 5-week period. At the end of the residency, artworks and projects are displayed through public showcases. During the pandemic, KYTA offered virtual residences as well. 

Chhaap, Gujarat

A non - profit organization founded Ghulam Mohammed Sheikh, Vijay Bagodi and Kavita Shah, Chhaap offers artists and printmakers the chance to work with different media to elevate their craft. Based in Vadodara, visiting artists can stay in the studio which has two etching presses, hotplate and aquabox, along with a guest room. More than 40 international artists have participated in its Residency program so far in the well established print studio as well as Artist-in-Residency facilities for etching, dry point, lino-cut woodcut and mono-prints.
