Cruising, for me, is not so much about the places I visit en route. I don&rsquot, as some do, regard the ship as a convenient floating hotel that allows you to tour without packing and unpacking daily. For me, cruising is about being at sea, and my passion for ships and trains, which are in my view the only civilized means of conveyance. So, as I boarded the Swan Hellenic Line&rsquos ship Minerva at Colombo in December to begin a two week cruise to Burma, Malaysia, and Singapore, I was delighted to think that four consecutive &lsquodays at sea&rsquo lay ahead of me. On those four days we would really be at sea, not touching land, as we sailed across the Bay of Bengal and the Andaman Sea, from Galle on the southern tip of Sri Lanka to Rangoon&mdashor Yangon as it is now known.
