Did you know that since the Titanic's discovery in 1985, fewer than 250 individuals have seen the ship and its wreckage Ordinary people can join up for an expedition that will take them to the ocean's depths the next year to visit the most renowned shipwreck in the entire globe.
The team will examine the devastation left in its wake and observe the effects of time as pressure, salinity, and the bacteria that ate away at the steel hull created thousands of rusticles&mdashclear signs that the enormous wreck is decomposing quickly. As a crew member, you can actively take part in the documentation of the wreck and debris field before it is all permanently destroyed. You will be accompanied by a team of dive experts, scientists, and filmmakers
The expedition is being organised by OceanGate Expeditions, a company of undersea explorers, scientists, and filmmakers who are dedicated to manned exploration of the underwater world. This is their third expedition to the wreck. They will continue these over the next couple of years as the wreck and debris field are massive. Participants who sign up and get a seat will actively support the experts team to help collect images and video, and to conduct laser and sonar scans to collect data on the current condition of the wreck. These will be used to assess the rate of decay over time and help to document and digitally preserve the historic maritime site.
Last month, OceanGate Expeditions had observed that the wreck of the RMS Titanic was being eaten by the ocean. But it will likely survive as an artificial reef for centuries.
