Delhi, a city widely known for its history and culture, comes to life with enthusiasm and dedication during the annual celebration of Ramlila. This lively recreation of lord Rama's legendary journey, as remembered in the Indian epic Ramayana, is a show that charms locals and visitors alike. While the entire city resonates with the echoes of sacred chants and reverberating drum beats, certain areas stand out as the embodiment of this grand tradition. So, here are five of the best places in Delhi to experience Ramlila:

Ram Lila Maidan

The Ramlila Maidan is one of the most iconic places in Delhi, where Ramlila is performed every year. It is also the site where Anna Hazare's massive anti-corruption movement took place. The location is home to a sizeable show featuring stunning sets, costumes and performers. Thousands of people flock to this place hours before the show to get the best seats closer to the stage. After the show, the performers gather on the ground to greet the spectators.

Lal Qila Metro Station is the nearest metro station to this location.

Subhash Maidan

Ramlila fans rush to Subhash Maidan in large numbers during the Dussehra season. Here, in one of the city's oldest places, Ramlila is performed. Many eminent personalities visit this location to attend Ramlila and Ravan Dahan. It is also among the best locations in Delhi for shopping during the Dussehra holiday. In addition, one of the stalls here has some of the best food that you may try.

At Shriram Bharatiya Kala Kendra, episodes from the epic Ramayana are performed, and skilled actors and musicians tell the tale in a musical and dramatic manner. The entire production is a lovely fusion of acting, dance, and classical and folk music, and it looks stunning. Since 1957, the institute has been organising the event. Recently, the organisation has started translating the programming into English and showing it on big projector screens so that visitors from other countries can also understand and enjoy the show.

Red Fort Lawns

The expansive lawns of Red Fort host performances by the well-known Nav Shri Dharmik Leela Committee and many others. The Ramlila / Dussehra Mela, which takes place on the popular grounds and lasts nine days, is a well-known tourist attraction. There are food stalls serving food from several states at the mela that is held here, as well as swings, slides, and a small amusement park for children. The Ramlila held here is known for its distinctive lighting and performances created especially to draw in younger audiences. Every evening at around eight o'clock, the mela begins.
