Hospitality group EHV International has brought the highly acclaimed Indian Accent restaurant to Mumbai, marking a significant addition to the city's culinary scene. The Indian Accent, renowned for its innovative approach to modern Indian cuisine, has garnered international acclaim and awards across its various locations. The restaurant's Mumbai debut promises a unique blend of authentic Indian flavours, creative dishes, and an ambience reminiscent of the Jazz Age.
Culinary Powerhouse Lands In Mumbai's Vibrant Landscape
Speaking about the venture, Rohit Khattar, Chairman of EHV, expressed his excitement, "After years of contemplation, we have discovered the ideal home for Indian Accent in Mumbai—the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre. Mumbai's discerning clientele has long awaited our arrival, and we are thrilled to bring the Indian Accent experience to this bustling metropolis. We anticipate Mumbai embracing us as warmly as New Delhi and New York have."
While staying true to Indian culinary heritage, the restaurant reinterprets traditional flavours to craft imaginative and groundbreaking dishes. The culinary reins at Indian Accent Mumbai are in the hands of Head Chef Rijul Gulati. With eight years of experience at Indian Accent New Delhi under the tutelage of Culinary Director Chef Manish Mehrotra, Chef Rijul promises a menu that respects Mumbai's dining habits and seasonal produce.
A Gastronomic Journey Through Mumbai's History And Modernity
Diners can relish timeless Indian Accent favourites like the "meetha aachar pork ribs," "ghee roast soya boti," "roomali roti pancake," and "daulat ki chaat." The Mumbai menu unveils exclusive creations like "gunpowder prawns, red rice, smoked chilli & raw mango curry," "guchhi matar, asparagus, Kashmiri morel pulao," and "burrata chaat, lotus root papdi, mustard tomato jam." The restaurant caters to diverse dietary preferences with vegan, gluten-free, and Jain menus alongside vegetarian and non-vegetarian tasting options.
A Melange Of Art Deco Design And Jazz Age Flair
The Indian Accent Mumbai venue pays homage to Mumbai's rich Art Deco heritage, which flourished in the city during the 1920s and 1930s. This iconic movement in architecture and design, often called the "jazz age," finds its contemporary expression in the restaurant's interior design. Collaborating with London-based Russell Sage Studio, EHV's Design Director Rohini Kapur and Director of Development Vikas Bhasin have curated a space that captures the essence of Mumbai's past while embracing modernity.
Meanwhile, Rohini Kapur shared her perspective on the design collaboration, stating, "Russell Sage Studios has artfully translated Mumbai's Art Deco influence into a contemporary design, paying homage to the city's heritage. We have seamlessly integrated the captivating images of fine art photographer Rohit Chawla, featuring UNESCO Indian heritage sites and Mumbai's Art Deco gems, to infuse the space with romance and timeless allure."
