A Weekend Escape To Strawberry Farms in Mahabaleshwar, Maharashtra

While exploring the strawberry farms in Mahabaleshwar, grab your cardboard boxes, take a walk amidst the strawberry beds, and select the perfect ones by plucking them yourself

Himakshi Panwar

Nestled amidst the lush Western Ghats of Maharashtra, the quaint hill station of Mahabaleshwar has long been a favourite getaway for city dwellers seeking respite from the urban hustle and bustle. While the misty mountains, cascading waterfalls, and breathtaking viewpoints are the hallmark attractions of this picturesque town, a sweet surprise awaits visitors–the vibrant and delightful strawberry farms.

Lakshmi Strawberry Farm

The Lakshmi Strawberry Farm has been hosting strawberry-picking events since 1975, attracting visitors from all over the country. These farm-fresh, red strawberries are a major draw. A farm representative offers plucking techniques to ensure newcomers have a successful experience. Visitors are advised to select strawberries thoughtfully, leaving the stem intact. The farm takes pride in cultivating its produce without using chemicals or pesticides.

Beyond strawberries, the farm holds year-round picking festivals for berries and vegetables like carrots and radish. It specialises in natural, organic, and locally sourced products, including pesticide-free greens and vegetables throughout the year.

Bhilare Farms

Adorned with red strawberries, the farm has become a go-to spot for high-quality strawberries. In the past, concerns about potential damage led farmers to hesitate in allowing tourists onto their farms. However, farm owner Sunil Bhilare recognised a sweet business opportunity and opened the farm for tourists to experience strawberry picking. Visitors are provided with cardboard boxes and a brief introduction, including dos and don'ts for strawberry picking. They are then guided to a designated area to enjoy reaping strawberries.
