Grass Hills 

Nestled at an awe-inspiring altitude of 2,400 meters, Grass Hills rests within the verdant Anamalai Tiger Reserve in Tamil Nadu, stretching out to the neighbouring Eravikulam National Park in Kerala. A natural wonder, this land of lofty peaks and high plateaus boasts a rare and unique montane shola-grassland ecosystem found only in the higher reaches of the Western Ghats. 

Venturing into this cool haven, one is greeted with a breathtaking sight of emerald green grasses swaying gently on the mountain slopes, enveloping the surroundings in a tranquil aura. The sun setting over the hills paints a vivid picture, etching itself indelibly into the memory of any observer.

Grass Hills is a feast for the eyes and a veritable wildlife sanctuary. The Valparai range is home to the Nilgiri Tahr, an exclusive and endangered species of wild goat that prefers open terrain cliffs and grassy hills at altitudes between 1200 and 2700 meters in the Western Ghats. Other majestic creatures, including elephants, bison, Indian Gaur, bears, and Nilgiri Langurs, wander freely in this habitat. The area is also a haven for diverse birdlife, including the iconic Hornbill.

Perumal Peak

Perumal Peak beckons to the adventurer's soul, a trekker's paradise in the Perumalmalai hills near the idyllic village of Perumalmalai, a stone's throw from the Palani road. This high Peak, nestled among the grandeur of the Western Ghats mountain range in Tamil Nadu, draws visitors from far and wide.

The trek commences from the base of the Peak, a tranquil spot near the Perumalmalai Village, a mere 11 km from Kodaikanal. The trail stretches over 7 km, taking trekkers on a journey of moderate difficulty, with a few steep parts of navigating. The trek is an experience in itself, taking around 3-4 hours each way, providing a glimpse of the raw, rugged beauty of the region.

For those seeking a deeper connection with nature, overnight camping atop the Peak is possible, allowing for a truly immersive experience. The stunning vistas from the top and the tranquil ambience make it the perfect spot to reconnect with oneself.

Perumalmalai village is easily accessible by bus or private vehicles from Palani or Kodaikanal, providing visitors with a hassle-free journey. It is little wonder that Perumal Peak is a must-visit destination in Kodaikanal, an adventure one will cherish forever.

Kolli Hills

Kolli Hills

395 kilometres from Chennai lies the enchanting Kolli Hills or Kolli Malai, a cluster of small mountains nestled in the Namakkal district of Tamil Nadu. Rising at the height of 1000 to 1300 meters, these hills span over 280 square kilometres of undulating terrain. To reach the summit from the Namakkal side, one has to traverse 70 sinuous hairpin bends, each turn revealing breathtaking vistas of unspoiled wilderness. Despite its growing popularity among visitors to Trichy, the Kolli Hills have managed to preserve their pristine charm, escaping the grasp of commercial tourism. The mountains remain a true natural gem.

Thalaiyaar Falls 

Imagine yourself journeying through the lush terrain of Tamil Nadu, surrounded by verdant hills and breathtaking vistas. The trek, which takes around 2-3 hours each way, is considered of moderate difficulty, offering a refreshing challenge to those seeking to explore its secrets.
