About The Trek

The expedition begins with a drive from Dharchula to Sela, a small village that marks the starting point of the trek. From Sela, trekkers embark on an expedition into the heart of the Himalayas. The Darma Valley Trek unfolds approximately 45 kilometres, leading adventurers through lush forests, meadows, gushing rivers, and towering peaks. The trail meanders along the Darma River, offering mesmerising views of snow-capped peaks, including the majestic Panchachuli range.

One of the highlights of the trek is the opportunity to immerse oneself in the rich culture and traditions of the local inhabitants. The Darma Valley is home to indigenous communities like the Johari and Rung tribes, which are known for their warm hospitality and distinct way of life. The trail leads trekkers to the remote village of Bongling, where time seems to stand still. Reach Kathgodam, the nearest railway station. From there, take a taxi or a bus to Dharchula, the base camp for the trek. The journey from Kathgodam to Dharchula takes approximately 8-10 hours by road.
