If you thought Indians were obsessed with gold think again.

The Dolce by Wyndham Hanoi Golden Lake is a 25-storey building completely decked out in 24 karat gold from top to bottom. Reportedly, some 2,000 pounds of gold was used in the ceilings, floors, surfaces, mouldings, elevators, baths, toilets, cutlery, showerheads, taps, sinks and swimming pool of the Vietnamese hotel to provide guests with an ultra-luxurious experience. It was built at an estimated cost of INR 16.7 billion and to say the building stands out in its neighbourhood of mostly Soviet-era structures would be a gross understatement.

The Hotel’s Facilities

The Dolce by Wyndham Hanoi Golden Lake as seen from the outside

The Dolce by Wyndham Hanoi Golden Lake opened in 2020 is the first of its kind gold-plated hotel in the world. It's located on the shore of Hồ Giảng Võ Lake in the city centre of Hanoi. The hotel's 24 karat gold-tiled swimming pool covers over 200 square metres and offers sweeping views of the country's capital. Their newly launched Golden Spa offers relaxing and rejuvenating facial and body treatments for guests.

The F29 Golden Beef Restaurant is a luxurious and spacious place where its signature dish of gilded beef is a popular draw with visitors. But it’s not just the main dishes which are flecked with gold; even their desserts have sprinkles of the precious substance like their golden apricot cake.

The Presidential Suite

The rooms and suites of the hotel have gold-plated appliances alongside comfortable working spaces, mini fridges, coffee makers, mattress bed, bathtubs and standing showers. Prices start from INR 25,000 for a single night and can reach an eye-watering figure of INR 72,000.
