Another week has come and (nearly) gone. As the festivities of Eid al-Fitr continue into the weekend and with thousands of events happening right across the city, it can be confusing to decide which ones to go to. Concerts, performances, carnivals; the list goes on and on.

Luckily, we did your homework for you. Here are some of our top picks on what to attend with family and friends.

Attend A Play (Or Two)

The cast of "Astitva"

The theatre is a beloved art form in India and this weekend plays host to two excellent productions. “Astitva” is the story of Santosh Hasolkar, the sole breadwinner of his family who is on the verge of retirement. When he announces his plans to leave Mumbai he throws his family’s ambitions into chaos as they struggle to comprehend his decision and its impact on their lives. Written and directed by Swapnil Jadhav, the play is in Marathi and performed by actors Chinmayi Sumeet, Bharat Jadhav, Jayraj Nayar, Saloni Surve, Hardik Jadha and Shyam Ghorpade.

Two of the lead actors of "Karun Gelo Gaon"

The second production is a laughter-filled affair called “Karun Gelo Gaon.” A village in the Konkan region is poised for a special honour by the state’s chief minister. The presiding Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) wants his lover to grace the occasion with a dance recital but the local villagers prefer to conduct a drama performance. Who wins out? You will have to attend this Marathi-language play to find out.
